Let Your Hair Down!

So often I allow my clients, my readers, and my experiences to define my blog subjects. I usually try to be aware of subjects or conversations that raise an eyebrow or create a response such as “I never thought of that” or even more blatantly, “you need to write about that!” Well this is one of those blog subjects I “needed” to write about-getting your hair cut and/or styled! Surprise! How metaphysical is that? well, very.
I was talking with a friend and told her I was driving to Johnson City to get my hair done, her response was “Why are you driving all the way to Johnson City?!” For those of you not familiar with this area, Johnson City is one of the Tri-Cities , which also includes Bristol, and Kingsport, Tennessee. I live about 35 miles away in Southwest Virginia.
Nevertheless, it is a drive, but worth it. This is not an advertisement for the salon, although I do recommend them. It is information about something I realized I took for granted, and you may have never thought about: Getting your hair done is energy work, just as a massage, Reiki, Raindrop, Theta-Healing and other methods of body/energy work.
Think about how good you feel when you wash your hair. There is always a difference when you bathe and wash your hair or just hop in the tub or shower and don’t wash it. When you wash your hair, you feel balanced and have the ability to regroup. You are activating your crown center, your crown chakra which is located at the top of your head.
Your hair carries energy/vibrations in every strand, not just nutritional information and the drug residue we often hear about. Hair encompasses cell memory. Knowing this, think about the length of your hair and contemplate about what you hold onto within your life. Do you have your hair cut regularly? Or just trim the ends? How about people that choose to shave their head?
A beautiful client I met with recently was learning from cancer. We talked about losing hair due to her cancer therapy. Rather than seeing it as a loss, I invited her to see it as a “reset button.” Her body was bringing in new vibrations and shifting the cancer consciousness. It is an opportunity to bring in new energy and program that new energy AND HER HAIR with positive thoughts and affirmations.
I watched An Officer and a Gentleman this Valentine’s Day weekend. I had just written this blog and realized the military shaves all that old energy! There are other circumstances where the head is shaved, yes, I understand that. But the impact is about replacing one’s identity and cell memory with a new consciousness. As with affirmations, an “indoctrination” process takes place, the hair grows back and possesses that shift in consciousness.
Start paying attention to individuals that have changed their styles or kept their hair cut. What about those that shave their heads or those that never cut their hair? Are they part of a religious sect, or is it just out of personal preference? How would you describe them?
Back in the sixties, being raised Catholic, I remember when women were required to cover their crown chakra with a hat or a veil (any of you ever had your mother put a Kleenex on your head when you forgot your veil?!). And think of monks who would have the crown center shaved to open their crown to the God energy. (Now THAT says a whole lot doesn’t it –they had theirs shaved and we had to cover ours?). There is the story of Samson and Delilah, Repunzel, all about strength and the power of hair.
Now, we have talked about your hair and the energy it contains. Still, why do I drive 35 miles to Ornare Salon and have Bryan Marlowe do my color? (sorry folks, I do color my hair, the secret is out) and Tommi Tolliver cut my hair? It is an amazing combination of expertise and their own personal energy but also the energy in the entire place is wonderful. The energy they omit and the consciousness they hold influences my energy field while they work on my crown center. There is also the element of trust, I trust Bryan to know his stuff with color, and Tommi’s attitude and energy is refreshing, and I trust her to cut my hair in a style that looks good. What is your attitude toward your stylist? It is all energy, remember! and the Law of Attraction is about getting back what you give out. So take a look.
The energy of your stylist and the energy of the salon should resonate with yours. Pay attention to how you feel after you have had your hair done and see if it relates to the energy and mood of your hairdresser (stylist/ Design Specialist). They are working on your crown chakra, your crown center– the most open and powerful energy center you have. And on top of that (pardon the pun) there is an exchange of energy with your conversation. You are sitting in a chair for how long? their heart center and throat center are in direct contact with your crown and your third eye (brow) center.
Do they uplift your mood? or do they feed your fears? What is happening in that exchange? Have you ever wondered why it takes some of us so long to leave one hairdresser for another? I know several people that complain about their hair stylist, yet still return to the same individual, the same salon for years! Sometimes it is difficult to break out of the energy, even if it is not uplifting.
In talking with my friend, she wanted information about where I went and why. I asked Bryan Marlowe and Edward Hickman, owners of the salon, Ornare in Johnson City if they minded me talking a little about their salon and why I make the trek…Ornare is an Aveda salon. I have lived in quite a few cities over the years. I have not always sought out an Aveda salon, but always end up at an Aveda Salon.
Why Aveda? Corporations have a consciousness, they perpetuate energy in their products, their image, and their brands. Ultimately, their employees and customers reflect that energy. Aveda, and ultimately Ornare Salon, has energy and branding that goes beyond the company. The products and the designers that reflect and use the products provide a positive environment. I could take up another entire blog on corporate energy and consciousness. I use my graphic design/color theory expertise and intuitive ability to evaluate image brands and help companies shift their energy, so I am very sensitive to energy, image, and environment.
I am sure there are other salons besides Aveda salons, and this is not to get everyone to call up Bryan, Tommi, or Edward. It is to make you aware of whom you allow in your energy field. Do you feel good and uplifted after getting your hair done? Or do you feel drained and tired, exhausted, and poor? Pay attention to the correlation and make a shift if you need to!
Also, to add to the abundance consciousness, are you spending a little time and money on yourself? If money is an issue right now, then push your appointment out by a week or two, but don’t stop going! Being at a nice salon or spa allows you to feel special and increases your abundance/wealth consciousness. When you look and feel wealthy, you open yourself up to accept more abundance, wealth, and opportunities into your life. So, take a moment to reflect, and remember to take care of you, you are worth it. didn’t know getting your hair done was so important, did you?
Have a blessed week everyone! Also, I will address the many wonderful e-mails concerning compassion this week, so stay tuned to the comments! Thanks for all the wonderful feedback!
All my best, Catherine
